Description:

A technical position in the area of polymer matrix composites is available in the Materials Science Department at The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, California.  The successful candidate would provide laboratory support to members of the technical staff serving National Security Space and non-DoD customers in the areas of polymeric materials characterization and composite materials fabrication and characterization.  Tasks include, but are not limited to, sample preparation, operation of thermal analysis instrumentation, optical and atomic force microscopy, fabrication and characterization of composites and resins, materials evaluation for mission assurance and brief documentation of laboratory results.  A FULL US citizenship is required!

 

Qualifications:

The qualifications include a BS/BA in chemistry, materials science, physical science, or related technical field for the associate of the technical staff position or an AA degree in chemistry or materials science for the laboratory technician position.  Experience with laboratory instrumentation including scanning electron microscopy, gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, dynamical mechanical analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry is desirable but not required.  The flexibility to support multiple projects is desired as is the ability to work harmoniously and effectively communicate with co-workers.  A FULL US citizenship is required!
